“Unaltered”

This term describes the most original, least-changed version of the photo that can be obtained from the device or camera after any internal processing that cannot be disabled. The “unaltered” version of a photo is what will be used in VUOs.

An “unaltered” image is focus maximized, with

• no additional cropping
• no additional color correction
• no additional brightness adjustments
• no fokeh
• no PEPC
• no changed lighting effects

See also SOOC and see this page.

Smartphone manufacturers may be reluctant to make largely “unaltered” photos available, for reasons explained in FAQ #2512.
