Fokeh
Also known as
• Faux bokeh
• Non-optical bokeh blur
Fokeh (that is, non-optical or “faux” bokeh blur) is easy to create using “Portrait” mode on a smartphone.
There is often no visual difference between bokeh and fokeh: one cannot reliably tell which is present “just by looking.”
But any fokeh always disqualifies a photo from TTG, as do all other kinds of added (non-optical) blur.
• Fokeh is easy to avoid (don’t use “Portrait” mode)
• Fokeh easy to remove (slide the slider to the highest number).
When the English form of the word “faux” is used on this website, it is always in quotes.
