the “not” sentence construction
To avoid implying an unrealistic certitude about photographs, in multiple places on this website, a “not” sentence construction is used.
In most cases saying that something does “not” have a particular characteristic is not the same as saying that it “does” have the opposite characteristic.
For example, to say that a person is “not short” is not the same as saying that they are “tall.”
The distinction can be very important.
