There is something that neither AI, nor deepfakes, nor Photoshop, nor even the smartest smartphone will ever be able to do.

Those tools can never make any
photograph more “undoctored”
than it already is.

That means that the most advanced technologies we have cannot add more of the one characteristic that humankind will always prize when viewing the record of “what one person saw, in one small corner of the world, at one unrepeatable moment in time.”
