“making” vs. “taking”

Some photographers enjoy debating whether it is preferable to say that a photographer “takes” photographs or to say that a photographer “makes” photographs.

This website uses both terms — “taking a picture” and “making a TTG photograph” — and no offense is intended to proponents of either term.
