banding

Banding is categorized with “lens/camera anomalies” — i.e., it was not visible in the scene that was photographed — and is covered by Allowable Change #4.

As with other lens/camera anomalies, in a TTG photograph normal banding may be left as is, may be partially corrected, or may be fully corrected.

Notes and exceptions

• As per P7, the banding removal/reduction cannot so greatly affect depictions of what was visible in “the scene that was photographed” that the result wouldn’t meet rinairs.

TTG photographers can always keep a copy of the original photo — with the banding — to show why they made the changes they did.

• Any banding that is excessive enough to be deemed to be unacceptable to rinairs (and is not or cannot be corrected) disqualifies the photo from P7.
